My case was filed on july 2 and got rejected due to incorrect fees. I was told, it was mail room error and was refiled on Sep 12th. I was under the impression that all the rejected cases have receipts numbers and the cases are entered in USCIS database.
I called USCIS and my case information is not in database yet. My attorney told me that they only have a reference number for inquiry(yet to explain why no receipt number instead).
Have you guys seen this happening in other cases?

I just got H1B. My wife is currently on her F-1/OPT. Can anyone guide me where I can find required documents to apply for H4 for my wife? Do you think I can do it myself or it needs a lawyer?

Basically you punch in your DBEC or PBEC receipt number and your city and state then your e-mail and the system will automatically e-mail you once your job is posted.

On my last exit from USA , I was not carrying original i797 so I gave photocopy of i94, I am returning back to USA now, what shall I do ? Now I have the originals too..

I understand that the July VB is reinstated until Aug 17 for new applications for AOS. What happens to AOS applicants of the past? Does this means that the visa numbers are available for restarting processing of those old applications?
Or this reinstatement is restricted only for filing new applications (to abide by INA)? If latter is the case, and earlier option is not viable due to unavailability of visa numbers, then the "current" status (until Aug 17) is not really current, isn't it? Am I understanding this situation correctly?

You can transfer your H1 to another company and you will get extension of same validity period (check your I94 Expriry period).
You can retain the priority date of your labour when you file I-140 in the new company.
By the way, why dont you start your I485 process now in the current company? You have lived with them for so long, 6 more months after applying I485, may not be a matter I think.....

My friends wife applied for h1b and left for India on march 30th, while on H4, they got their h4 stamped april 5th, and still dont know about status of h1b application. The i94 number mentioned in the I129 is the old I94 which was surrendered at port of exit. When they reenter sometime in may, she will get new I94 , which will of course, be valid exactly as the I94 mentioned on I129.
1. Will there be any other problem in port of entry , as she will be entering on H4 stamping.
2. Will the h1b application get rejected or queried.

Last year, employers submitted so many H-1B petitions, the USCIS had to pick the winners by lottery. This year, seven months after the opening of the filing season that started on April 1st, the H-1B cap has yet to be reached. However, the numbers may not last long. During the first week of April, the USCIS received almost enough H-1B petitions to fill the 20,000 cap for persons with advanced degrees, but only 43,000 petitions against the 65,000 general cap. My law firm applied my EAD/AP/485 on Aug 13th. I got my Receipt Notices for all three.
My question is where does USCIS send the FP Notice and EAD?
