maybe we're backwards here. but i have NEVER, EVER heard of ANY kind of phone service where INCOMING calls are anything BUT free (excluding reverse-charge, obviously).
Im sorry, but if you all accept crappy CDMA phones specific to a carrier, and paying for incoming calls, you are kidding yourself if you think you are anything but backwards. (i wont go into the whole metric thing :P )

Ok, this I honestly didn't see, and if true, then warrants a serious reprimand of any organisation at Mac Expo!! I hope that the reason they were ejected was something like this, and not just handing out leaflets in the wrong area, like I was led to believe from the thread so far!
I wouldn't like anyone taking photos of my child without permission, and if true then Greenpeace have behaved irresponsibly!
But that could also mean that someone took a photo of a baby with an Apple with consent and that was chinese whispered by an anti-Greenpeace voice to, 'Yeah, y'know, I even saw them putting this apple in a kid's pram and...'

Yes they have their issues, but they will not dwindle away. Very few large scale enterprises stay on the upside all the time. Remember when Apple nearly bit the dust? It can happen to any of them. MS will be fine.

Wanna bet that Napa64 is 100% identical to ordinary Napa, apart from the fact that the CPU is Merom, instead of Yonah? Since Napa is a platform, just chaning the CPU to something else would mean that the platform has been refreshed.I'm a little skeptical about Napa64 as well. That can be viewed another way. Apple is too cheap to bother risking anything that is not a sure bet.
MS willing to risk R&D and a lot of R&D on things that might be a dead end.
MS R&D is more like a university Research compared to Apple R&D that is only about profit.
Guess which one adds more better for the people. Correct answer is not Apple
MS developed a lot of bad things zune, surface, kin, they probably cancel dual screen tablet. This things was semi baken. Simple economy rule say more poeple are lees prodactive per person than small groups.

But read the release.
They are using Cingular for just 6 months then offering it to everyone (who wants to take it)
This is a wise decision on a brand new product for lots of obvious reasons.
I personally use Cingular but have my issues with them and all the rest for that matter. (don't waste your $$$ on their lame insurance plan for instance)
Also it would seem that this will not be a US only product.
I know it is hard to be patient with these things....damn it I am frustrated at having to wait 2 weeks for my wireless keyboard and 2 months for my Shuffle.
BUT as they say and the truth is.....ALL good things come to those who wait.
I think many of you have missed the simple significance of this news.
At last the phone is real...it is coming soon. No more rumors:D

Everybody does realize that this promo only applies to already existing hardware. It does not apply to the new Core 2 Duo iMacs, nor will it apply to any new hardware released on Tuesday. Just making sure everyone is in the know...

Bono still sucks, U2 has always sucked, and, much as i like a) the color of the new iPod and b) fighting AIDS, Apple's weird extended relationship with Bono makes very little sense to me.

I'd be surprised if Apple did anything with TV tuners.
With the variety of TV services that people have (analog cable, digital cable, satellite TV, Verizon's TV over fiber, terrestrial HDTV), coming up with a device that can tune most folks TV doesn't sound easy, even for Apple.
There may be lots of TV options out there, but right now Apple isn't servicing any of them. They're losing potential business to 3rd Party companies like Elgato. If they released a simple box with analog/digital standard/hidef options, they would be servicing the overwhelming majority of the market (most digital, satelite and other special services require set-top boxes anyway).

Allendale is not faster than Merom. Benchmarks show it is slower.Links please. Both low end Merom and Allendale have the same amount of cache. Still, Allendale clocks higher and faster.

Don't 90% or more of the MP3 players on the market also infringe this patent (including the forthcoming Zune). By making this payout Apple have given Creative the means to fight other companies (such as Microsoft, Sandisk, etc) which could tie them up for years...Meanwhile, Apple have their nice license agreement and can continue unabated...
