You would not have said "What on earth is an app store?". You would have said "Where is it?" because you would have known it is a place that sells apps/applications. Why? Because it is descriptive. And that is the point of the argument.
It looks descriptive to you because there is an App Store for your Mac and there is an App Store for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. If Apple hadn't invented the term "App Store" and used it for its super successful site, you would never have heard the term, and you wouldn't know what it means.
Applications are a type of program. They have been called so since the dawn of time.
When you take some facial cream and put it on your face, that is called "application". When you take some abstract idea and turn it into practice, that is called "application". When you fill out a form to get a passport, that is called "application". "application" is a word with many meanings.

There is no connection , just ignorant people who can't handle the fact that someone just saved alot of money buying a lower end cpu and overclocking it to a point where it stomps their $999 cpu.
Yeah I can't handle it...
I have overclocked. My point is that someone buying a Professional Workstation and trying to overclock it is childish.
If you want to overclock, head over to newegg and buy some parts and do it.
Also, overclocking take a lot of work. And most don't take the time to do it right. They pop it in, rail up the multi and/or fsb and say "oh, look at me, I overclocked to 3.0Ghz!"

It makes more sense for Apple to wait for tomorrow, anyway. This way, they can avoid being drowned out by the other manufacturer's announcements and simultaneously steel their fanfare. They'll probably do something like "New, with Merom, and more..." and add on another fancy feature or two to each thing to outdo the other laptop guys.
Though, I still think they're coming on the 18th of sept.

Made a correction to the headline. It should be:
McAfee faces obsolescence with increasing Apple popularity.
;)
lol I laughed and my co-workers looked at me funny
back to spread sheets how funny can they be huh

Hi
You already can, it's called Home Sharing (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3819), which is also available on your iDevice using iOS 4.3 and later.
I didn't know it was possible to use Home Sharing to play music simultaneously between several Macs - care to tell how? (not being sarcastic, just curious)

I often wondered what kind of people could find a homeowner who shot an armed intruder guilty of a crime or culpable in civil court. Having read many of the comments in this thread, now I know.

You can hook 3+3 displays from some AMD 6000-series PCIe cards. I am not sure if it also works for 4+2 or 5+1, which would allow for different screen configurations (eg: 4x24"+2x30" or 5xSmaller+1x30"3D).Daisy chaining displays over the Display Port connector and/or the/a monitor or cabling that supports it not just Eyefinity.

I don't even know why am I so excited about this since I always have my iPod classic with me.
Even though it would be awesome if iPhone had an external-cloud based space of 160 GB to substitute my loaded gem. That could seriously break the need for 256 GB SSDs in iPhones for us audiovores...
Now only if all my music would be on iTunes Store too....

If you compare their investment in R&D to what they manage to churn out, it's pretty sad.

I think we'll see a transition from iTunes to iMedia.
The iMedia Store (TV Shows, Music, Audiobooks, Movies). The iMedia Player (the "true" video ipod). airMedia (wireless video/audio streaming device).
While what you suggest makes some sense ... Apple has invested way too much in building the "iTunes" brand to simply drop it now. For the same reason I doubt we'll see the iMac changing to "mac" or iPod changing to "Pod" ... they're here to stay for now.
An alternative is the make Quicktime a full-fledged media player and browser to support the TV shows, movies and movie store to keep it separate from iTunes.

Maybe you're right, maybe not... I mean, I doubt the guys went in in Kevlar suit saying "we take the loot, not matter what. If someones try to stop us, we kill him". In a bank robbery maybe they would but I doubt they were ready to kill somebody only for a few iPads...
But that's just me.
Feel free to sympathize with the crooks, but this does not sound like a case of "Han shot first".

Apple "beats" Microsoft?
But who has the strongest dad?
ROFL! I totally see what you're saying. Why can't people just avoid fanboyish behavior? Both companies make some great products. Both companies make bad products too. *shrugs*

Why does the high-end Conroe cost more than the high-end Woodcrest?
Because the mulitplier is unlocked , making it very easy to overclock.

Please explain to me how a computer company would benefit from aquiring a camera company because I just don't see it.
Canon is far more than just a camera company, even tough that is their core business.
In the consumer area, their scanners and printers are usually quite decent.
However, I too just don't see the synergy.

I am moving up from an eMac 1 gigahertz G4. So I'm sure it will seem very fast to me. Probably more than I need.
You're in for a treat. I went from a 1.2GHz G4 to MacBook (2HGz Yonah) and it's streets ahead in terms of performance. 4 times faster encoding a DVD with Handbrake is a godsend.
The Merom iMac's are a great spec for the price.

The marantz one is, you have to pay $40 to uPgrade firmware to get AirPlay working at all. At least you did with early versions, not sure about current versions, AirPlay may work without upgrade with those.
if you have marantz speakers...... you have 40 dollars.

I hope you're joking about that. iTunes is not about making money for apple
Apple makes money off of iTunes Music Store - they won't tell us how much, but it is a money maker (all be it insignificant compared to the iPod)

[QUOTE=Dunepilot]I didn't even know there was an Expo on!QUOTE]
Oh it's on. It's nowhere near as big as MacWorld San Francisco or MacWorld Paris, but Mac Expo London is pretty good for those in the UK that don't want to travel too far. 12 per person on the door, but the first 5000 to order in advance got tickets for free, (including me, off there tomorrow).
From the Green point of view, I would want Apple to be as green as the fruit they name themselves after. I am all for recycling, minimising energy consumption and many other environmental issues. I don't however want to have to buy some godawful PC just on the basis of their green record. For example, why do all the Apple computers have to ship with the box, wrapped in a plastic bag, surrounded in polystyrene, inside another box? Surely Apple can reduce the amount and layers of packaging and make another smaller step to a decent green record.
Hope they're back tomorrow and I can have a small chat with them at some point.

Err... and how is that relevant? I'm sure Blu-Ray will live on in other notebooks, but Apple's? Unlikely.
There were 100GB BDXL when Apple refreshed the MacBook Pro's this year.
Maybe when Steve Jobs is gone for good then Apple can finally have Blu-Ray and a laptop with a right-click mouse.

The only way i'd give up my Treo for an "iPhone" is if it is a true "smart phone". That means PDA functionality. It's got to do everything my Treo does. If it's simply another phone with iTunes on it then it's not worth switching, at least in my opinion.
i think that might come down the road but not at the initial launch. smart phones are not as popular as the normal cell phones. plus, you need the right OS for smart phone and we are talking about a totally separate venture there. hopefully Apple will introduce OSX mobile version
